Galations is an important book. It holds truth that frees us from being enslaved to sin and the law. It helps us not live in constant condemnation. We posted an entry a few days with some helpful insight from Martin Luther regarding our sin problem. Mainly, Luther encouraged us to not to be too surprised THAT we struggle with sin. See that link HERE.
Are our eyes focused inwardly on our sin only instead of inward and the immediately outward to the finished work of Christ? Do you live each day with a sense of the displeasure of God because you don't obey His law? Listen to what Charles Spurgeon said about the law of God in our lives NOW (for believers):
"What is God's law now? It is not above a Christian--it is under a Christian. Some men hold God's law like a rod, in terror, over Christians, and say, 'If you sin you will be punished with it.' It is not so. The law is under a Christian; it is for him to walk on, to be his guide, his rule, his pattern: 'we are not under the law, but under grace.' Law is the road which guides us, not the rod which drives us, nor the spirit which actuates us. The law is good and excellent, if it keep its place." --Spurgeon
How do you hold God's law? Does the law terrorize you? Does the LAW hang over your head each day as you walk around and live for the glory of God, or does grace?
---------------------->on this note, have you ever considered reading a small book? Oftentimes we will say "I'm thinking of taking on this real large book here..." and then we never get through it. Sometimes it can be helpful to read a small book. Especially a good one. When I have struggled with understanding my state before God, I have been so encouraged by The Cross Centered Life (by CJ Mahaney). Its small. But because its saturated with Gospel-truths from Scripture...its powerful.
