(FOR MEN): A Possible Solution for an Ailing Prayer Life (and something for all of us compartmentalizers out there, too)

Do guys even read this blog?????

Time to read this post and link: 5 minutes.

Sometimes I want to compartmentalize my life. And I do, often. But I can't really--every single piece of our lives are connected. Everything matters. Here's something that I came across today that will blow the doors off of compartmentalizing our lives: the way I live with my wife (how I treat her) directly effects my spiritual growth.

"No Christian husband should presume to think that any spiritual good will be accomplished by his life without an effective ministry of prayer. And no husband may expect an effective prayer life unless he lives with his wife “in an understanding way, bestowing honour” on her." -Wayne Grudem

Thats convicting! And its also odd logic...or it seems to be:

Spiritual good happens in my life when I pray effectively.
Effective prayer happens when...
I live with my wife "in an understanding way."

Or:
If I live with my wife "in an understanding way" (at home, behind closed doors when no one is watching).
Then I can pray effectively.
If I pray effectively, spiritual good happens (because of what God does).

Gospel Disclaimer: and this doesn't mean that living right at home earns an answered prayer. See the link below for how it relates:
